Achievement Centers for Children & Families

Founded in 1969 as the Community Child Care Center of Delray Beach (our corporate name), the Achievement Centers for Children & Families began as a pilot program in response to the overwhelming need for affordable, quality childcare for working mothers.

As a small nonprofit organization, our mission began in donated church schoolrooms with a handful of teachers and children. As the low-income community needs became increasingly evident, our program quickly grew to support these families and help prepare their children for success in the public school system. The Achievement Centers’ program was so successful that we relocated to a small house a few years later. In 1990, a new preschool facility opened serving children ages 3-5 years old on land donated by the city of Delray Beach. Less than six years later, we built a toddler center to serve children between 12 months to 3 years old. In 2001, we opened our 19,000-square-foot after-school center to serve kindergarten through fifth-grade students with enrichment services.

Our programs were expanded again in 2004 with the addition of an after-school programteen programadult education program, and adult center at the Village Academy. In January 2007, we officially changed our name from the Community Child Care Center to the Achievement Centers for Children & Families to aptly describe our dedication to providing services for under-resourced families in Palm Beach County.

Community Classroom Kitchen Initiative

Using Kitchen Skills to Teach Culinary Lessons & Lessons for Life

Community Classroom Kitchen (CCK) brings life skills into the kitchen and kitchen skills into life and is tapping into South Florida’s top culinary talent for programming, expertise and collective creativity.

CCK is committed to gathering families and neighbors together around a healthy dinner table, and that starts with training a culinary workforce that is passionate and equipped for health and success. Inspiring young adults to become food entrepreneurs is what we do. By connecting chefs and culinary experts with those who are eager to learn, we are able to co-create the future of the vital industry.

Miracle League of Palm Beach County

The Miracle League of Palm Beach County History was co-founded in 2005 by Delray residents, Jeff & Julia Kadel. Parents of 3 active boys, Jeff has coached many of his son’s school and city teams, while Julia, a certified Health Coach, was always there cheering on her boys. One night they were watching a television broadcast featuring The Miracle League, a baseball league opens to all children regardless of mental or physical disabilities. It was then that the Kadels realized that they would use their experience and talents to bring this special baseball league to the children and families of their community.

After the success of that initial season, it was apparent to Julia & Jeff that the league needed to grow and serve all disabled children who wished to participate. With the support of the Palm Beach County Commission, community leaders, and generous donors, the plan to build their own barrier-free, the specialized field came to fruition. The Delray Parks and Recreation department was so inspired, they renovated all of the fields at Miller Park to include The Miracle League Field.
